E.J. Langley, Lumber Sales Manager and Company Ambassador for Anthony Forest Products, passed away Saturday, December 6. Affectionately known as "Pops" among his colleagues, customers and competitors, E.J. was an affable, unwavering and steadfast buyer for the Company.

His many friends across our labour are a testament to a role and unfriendly enthusiasm well lived. He began his race with Anthony Forest in 1988. He was named Lumber Sales Manager in 1991. E.J. is survived by his bride of 52 years, Ann Hearn Langley, as well as by his children Libby Knox and Andy Langley.

He is also survived by two sisters, Peggy Pierce and Doris Freer, two grandsons, Dylan Knox and Drew Langley, and two granddaughters, Andrea Langley and Lacy Knox. Services were held on Tuesday, December 9, at the Chapel of Young's Funeral Directors in El Dorado, Arkansas. Langley adroitness gallery closing due to under par economy

A long-time event of the Langley duplicity scene announced it will close before the end of the year. The Whidbey Art Gallery, long ago known as the Artists’ Cooperative, will be closing on Dec. 28. The gallery, currently located at 117 Anthes Ave., has been a segment of the Langley community for seventeen years.

"It has been so slow, we are just not making it," said artist Moe Jerome. "Our Boniface tried to help, but that didn't work." The possessor of the erection is county businessman Paul Samuelson, who is also mayor of Langley.

Jerome added that the gallery is a dupe of mercantile circumstances. "We're prevalent to undergo a year off, then pay the way for how the frugality is doing," he said. "Sort of an artistic sabbatical." Artist Jandellyn Ward said the gallery is just one of many businesses hurting on South Whidbey.

"Basically, the saving and be of family has captivated its toll," she said.
