People of all ages competed in the 54th annual Mott Park Turkey Trot Thursday. Cold temperatures and pour didn't stop off some runners from lacing up and irresistible off. "I such as getting out here before Thanksgiving so I can feeling righteousness about eating that turkey and stuff," said dispatch-rider Larry Lawrence.

For some, the Thanksgiving time Turkey Trot is an annual habit while others are competing for the very leading time. The turkey prime unrest even brought the mayor out. "This is my original control being a component of this, got the fit extraction out here and we are looking consign to having some fun," said Flint Mayor Dayne Walling.

No enigma the incident level, each party ran for a good cause. "I don't at the end of the day care who comes in first, I'll just endeavour to finish," said messenger Logan Coon. The assets raised at the conclusion will benefit the Flint Community Schools.

"It supports the athlete department," said Gail Ganakas of Flint Community Schools.  But there is even more to be appreciative for at this sabbatical gathering. "More importantly, it supports the community and brings bourgeoisie back to Flint," Ganakas said. "It's just great to notice everybody, and the younger generations coming out to this," said sponser from Comerica Bank Bryan Wallace.

A form organizers count sticks around for many more Thanksgiving's to come.

Turkey torture 'extremely violent,' Langley agriculturist says

LANGLEY -- The mutilation of more than 100 turkeys has resulted in a host of charges against a 16-year-old Langley boy. RCMP have recommended charges against the teen of suspend and enter, difficulty and injuring or endangering animals after someone penurious into a turkey allotment Sept. 13 and mutilated more than 100 birds.

Ralph Volkmann, the holder of the farm, is still invert over what he calls the "extremely violent" crime. Volkmann said Tuesday that his sons, superannuated 17 and 19, haven’t been the same since. "They’re still timorous to go out on the arable at night, and they’re not babyish boys," he said.

Volkmann said the mutilated birds were to be shipped out the following matutinal for the Thanksgiving turkey season. "About 120 market-ready turkeys were mutilated and killed … 20 babies were found in a sham beast across the street. They were still alive," he said. "What would inspire anyone to do anything peer that? It’s grim to fathom." The suspect, who can’t be named due to his age, was not old folks' when RCMP arrived to take into custody him on Dec. 10. He turned himself in to the gendarmes the following day.

The teenager was released from imprisonment and was scheduled to appear in court on April 30.
