Pacman is 30-years-old today. And to celebrate, the prototypical arcade device is playable on the Google homepage for 48 hours. Which is, unreservedly frankly, brilliant. Some games never get old, never gaze tired, never bow to their appeal. And Pacman is one of those games.
After chief appearing in 1980, Pacman was an ever-present in arcades all over the world, with Namco selling almost 300,000 of the Pacman arcade machines. And now it’s within reach to carouse on Google. Google is forever changing its logo, with Google doodles commemorating steady days, birthdays, or anniversaries.
But this is the cardinal schedule that a Google doodle has in reality been playable. The browser-based style of the profession is spot-on. The music is intact, the gameplay is the same as it has always been, and the controls are simple. The other task that hasn’t changed is that I’m still rot at it, unfortunately.
