A casual visage is stepping down at Edmond North High School. Rick Nordyke, who has served as the front baseball for all 16 years of the program’s existence, announced his adaptation during Monday night’s educate room meeting. "I abide in the mood for I’ve been a dad for a whole group of baseball players and I have a 13-year-old daughter and want to be a dad to her and scrutinize her act ball," Nordyke said. "When you’ve been doing it 20 years you some times beggary a break." Edmond Athletic Director Mike Nunley said Nordyke’s forgoing is a big wastage for Edmond, and believes decision a replacement will be a refractory task.



"Those are some big shoes to fill," Nunley said. "He’s the only exercise in North curriculum vitae and he did a great job. We’ll have to ply diligently to perceive a replacement.






" Nunley said he posted the gap Tuesday and plans to assume applications until June 16. He believes the idealistic nominee will have knowledge of the community, ordeal and high moral character. Nordyke will be prolonged to oversee the North baseball program this summer, and will persevere as the school’s take charge softball coach. Nordyke said he’s been over the moon with the capital quality coaching personnel that has surrounded him over the years and helped evolve a number of talented ballplayers. North has produced several players who have gone on to take up in college and the pros, including Ryan Davis, Miguel Moctezuma, Michael Jarman and Landon Camp.



"I still dungeon in technique with them, those are curious teams, and I felt adore I was a padre to a 1,000 kids that came through our program," Nordyke said. Nordyke worn out four years as the chief JV mentor at Memorial High School, before charming over the Huskies’ program in 1993. He finishes his job at North with a 423-207 record, including eight trips to the allege match and one runner-up fulfil in 2004. He was also named the Region 8 Coach of the Year in 2008 and has served as a Class 6A agent on the Oklahoma Baseball Advisory Board for the days of old five years.
