ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland's House of Delegates has approved a compromise on changes to unemployment guarantee laws that was agreed to by the state's labor and role communities. Delegates voted 101 to 33 Tuesday in favor of. The system would grant businesses to rub out payments to Maryland's unemployment compensation capitalize and slash the animate rates for former payments in 2010 and 2011.
It would curtailment benefits for some workers, but enlarge benefits for others including commonalty seeking problem training while unemployed. The litmus test now goes to Gov. Martin O'Malley for his signature.
The governor wanted to substitute Maryland's unemployment guaranty laws to get about $127 million in federal stimulus money.
