Major earthquake strikes Taiwan Hear.

TAIPEI, Taiwan - A 6.5 immensity earthquake struck off the southeast skim of Taiwan on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.



The seismic swayed buildings in the capital, but there were no abrupt reports of casualties or deface and no tsunami vigilant was issued. The trembler hit at 10:59 a.m. district set (0259 GMT), 195 miles (295 kilometres) off the southern Taiwan megalopolis of Taitung at a intuition of 6.2 miles (10 kilometres), the USGS said.






The agency’s approve story had put the quake’s note at 6.9. In Taipei buildings swayed for up to 20 seconds when the shake hit but restricted tube said there were no nearby reports of casualties or invoice anywhere on the island. Earthquakes ordinarily jounce Taiwan but most are negligible and cause little or no damage. However, a 7.6-magnitude earthquake in pre-eminent Taiwan in 1999 killed more than 2,300 people.
