2010. San Francisco Fleet Week bigger this year News.

SAN FRANCISCO-This year's Fleet Week in San Francisco is being billed as the biggest in 20 years. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the event, which begins Thursday afternoon and continues through Monday, will have six U.S. Navy ships, a Coast Guard cutter and two Canadian warships. There will also be a Vietnam-era firm rounds vessel and the World War II Liberty Ship, Jeremiah O'Brien. Last year's result had only one U.S. Navy ship.

Significantly more Navy sailors and Marines are also expected to be on hand. Organizers tell another late mark of Fleet Week this year is a seminar that is intended to familiarize ranking officers from the Navy and Marine Corps with county trouble capabilities. Fleet Week celebrates San Francisco's roots as a pre-eminent Navy community and has been noted each year since 1981.
