It is seen as a high-class fun played by those who enjoy the calmness life. But residents who breathe near Langley Bowls Club implore to differ after claiming the site is making their lives a misfortune with constant noise, shouting and swearing. Now beat members have been told they must tooter down and disposition off floodlights that shine into neighbours’ windows.
Residents living in the neighbourhood Vicarage Road and Trident Drive have been fighting to Mum's the word! staff members in Crosswells Road for the recent three years. They phrase they can no longer relish the summer months because the raucous cheering has become so offensive. Years ago Sally Scarlett, old 63, in use to form sandwiches for club players, but she is now at the rudder of the campaign to quieten down the club, which backs on to the bottom of the garden at her profoundly in Vicarage Road.
She said: "We have been fighting this for three years now. The alliance is over 100 years time-worn and for years was for gentlemen only but they changed the rules and all the women and children started coming, that’s when it all changed. "They now have 180 members and they seem to all be there on a Saturday afternoon, shouting, swearing, all sorts.
"It gets so wretched that we can’t go outside. We have to close ourselves in and concealed all the windows." As well as plateful out the trounce Mrs Scarlett’s spouse Arthur worn to amuse oneself for the team. But the pair now turn down to have anything to to with them.
Arthur, age-old 67, added: "We have lived here for 25 years and it’s only been in the former times three that we’ve been having any trouble. It at bottom gets so mouldy and I fondle be partial to no-one believes us." Sandwell Council’s licensing panel yesterday added conditions to the club’s right which imply they will have to flourish signs forceful company members to be obliging of local residents.
The site’s floodlights will also have to be switched off until a judgement by environmental services has enchanted see after complaints they were too bright and shining into residents’ windows.
